A R G U SStudy Group for Environmental Statistics - ARGUS e.V.
|
For 30 years ARGUS, the Study Group for Environmental Statistics, has been making important contributions towards solving various environmental problems. An interdisciplinary team of engineers, mathematicians, physicists and computer scientists offers a wide spectrum of solutions in the area of environmental protection and health precautions. Our product and service line includes the use of statistical models and approaches for data collection, data evaluation, designing environmental protection and public health concepts as well as complex information and simulation systems. The dissemination and presentation of accumulated knowledge and competencies in the field of environment protection is the pivotal activity of the Study Group. The application and combination of engineering, statistical-mathematical and data-system-approaches ensure integrated solutions and highest quality results. Scientific co-operation and close collaboration with FAGUS (Research Working Unit for Society, Environment and Housing) as well as GESPA (Raw and Waste Material Processing Company) in Berlin have proven to be valuable ties for research and applied research, presenting an opportunity to incorporate state-of-the-art environmental, public health and computer science research to further the practical implementation of projects. In order to effectively link research and application ARGUS operates since July 1999 as ARGUS e.V. (association) and, in addition, as ARGUS GmbH (limited liability company). A network of European affiliates
assures successful project execution on the international level. Emphasis is
given to the Regions in South-Eastern Europe. ARGUS
has rendered
substantial assistance to international projects while having initiated the
harmonisation of European waste legislation for the EU-acceding and
candidate countries under the umbrella of the Twinning organisation.
For example the
packaging directive, PCB-directive and lanfill directive. By now
ARGUS was bestowed upon the status "Mandated Body". |
